Undergraduate Scholarships: The information Bottleneck is Real

The data does not lie!

The Greatest impediment to access to scholarships is unfamiliarity or lack of knowledge about the availability of these scholarships.

Many undergraduate students do not know about the existence of myriads of opportunities to access funding to support their studies.




This knowledge however, is not self-inflicted; it is a product of deficiency of resource persons/structured platforms to guide them.


When you correlate their familiarity with their source of information; the pattern stands out. A very unstructured way of getting information relying heavily on WhatsApp and friends. The university contributes to less than 15%.





Therefore, young students lack who to run to, lean on or guide them over scholarship applications.

This is an area that Elechi Scholarships strives to fill in the gap. Students deserves to be fully informed about the possible Scholarships available to them as early as possible.

Why many did not scale the document verification-review stage

I know that many applicants would be wondering at what went wrong with their applications. Trust us, nothing that cannot be explained, went wrong. Here, I will give a brief breakdown on why so many applicants did not pass the document verification-review stage into the interview stage. To start, I have categorized the possible problems into four (4): Missing or Incomplete Transcript. Transcripts of records were required to be uploaded in PDF format during the applications. Also, it should bear the courses offered in the last year (or at least 70% of the courses), dated and stamped with the official records sheet of your department.  The University is centered around the three pillars of:     Teaching    Research    Community or Social development At the foundation of these is teaching. As custodians of knowledge, they represent the highest level of arbitration on science, arts, skills, values and culture. They pass this down to students, through structured curricula and teaching modules.  Closely tied to, and also the foundation of all teaching is research.
