Frequently asked questions (FAQs) on Elechi Scholarship Applications



As the application to Elechi Scholarship starts trickling in; below are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) for clarity and ease of application:

  •  I am currently in my 4th year (400 level) can I use 3rd year (300 level) transcripts to apply?

The applications is for students in 300 level only, 3rd year transcript will not be accepted.


  •  I am in 3rd year (300 level) currently, can I use my first year transcripts to apply?

All applicants in 3rd year (300 level) must use the transcript of the previous year (200 level transcripts).


  •  I am currently in 3rd year (300 level), but all the result for 2nd year (200 level) are not yet out, what do I do?

We accept transcripts of the previous year, once 70% of your results are available (that means if you offered a total of 15 courses in the previous year, once you have up to 11 of the courses available you can request and obtain transcript for those and we will accept it).


  •  Is 3rd year (300L) in a 4 year course equivalent to 5th year (500L) in a 6 year course?

No! The criteria is not for a penultimate year. Only applicants in their 3rd year (300 level) of studies can apply, irrespective of the duration of their studies.

  •  Can I send my applications to your email?

No! Only applications sent via the application form will be considered.


  •  Can I apply on behalf of another student?

Yes, provided all application materials are submitted. However, the actual applicants must be ready for direct  correspondence in the subsequent screening phases.


  •  Can I submit my application as a hard copy?

No! only online submissions via this form is accepted.


  •  I do not have access to my transcripts, can I still be considered?

No, transcripts are a core criteria for a successful applicant.


  •  How do I get my transcripts, it is not yet available from my school portal?

University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has a dedicated online portal for ease of retrieval of transcripts.

Since you are still a student, reach out to the exams officer in your department or faculty for advice on this matter. Usually the faculty have certified template to produce this transcripts for their students 


  •  When is the deadline for the application?

The applications opened on 24th January 2026 at 00hrs WAT and closes by 23hrs on 28th of February 2026

 

  •  Can I apply if I am not a student of UNN?

No! this cycle is only available for UNN students.


  •  Where can I see the step by step process for this application?

  •  How much is this scholarship?

The scholarship covers tuition fees and hostel accommodation and monthly stipends. The exact amount will be unveiled during the award of the scholarship.


  •  Who are the people behind this scholarship?

They are young Nigerians who want to see changes in the funding landscape for tertiary education and post-graduate research in Nigeria.
